History
  • The Hunt Club Badminton Club (East originally) started around 1992 as part of a French speaking community centre associated with the College Catholique Franco-Ouest, organized by Diane Labelle Roller.

  • In 1999 the school board moved the campus from 2675 Draper to 411 Seyton, formerly used by St. Paul High School, but the gym there was unsuitable for badminton, so Yvonne Labelle searched for a better gym and found the École secondaire catholique Franco-Cité and founded officially the club.

  • In 2005, due to a reorganization of the gym, Yvonne Labelle searched for a better location, we tried a little at Hillcrest High School but finally moved to St. Thomas More Elementary school, which had a nice gym, a nice location and a good price.

  • At the end of the 2018-2019 season, Yvonne Labelle retired with a well deserving celebration, and was succeeded by Jocelyn Doire and Byatris Kattackal.

  • From Feb 25, 2020 to Feb 11, 2022, almost 2 years, the club stopped due to the COVID-19.

  • At the end of 2022 we had 48 members and 33 drop-ins, a large increase compared to previous years.

ABOUT

Club Rules

We play doubles and players are rotated after each game. Players bring their own racquets. Badminton birdies are provided by the club.

Prior experience is essential, with a low to high intermediate level of play preferred. New potential members can come for a drop-in session as a check for mutual suitability.

The club is open to all adults, aged 18 years and older. Our members tend to return every year and we have a good mix of ages. In addition to an interest in badminton,  the club's atmosphere tends to be a drawing card for our members.
